- NESL now invites applications from competent candidates for the post of Marine Biologist for employment with our prospective clients working in infrastructure projects such as airports, sea ports, power plants, bridges, mass rapid transit system, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct species inventories, testing and monitoring sea creatures exposed to pollutants
- Collect samples and data-using processes such as coring techniques, geographic information systems (GIS), visual recording and sampling
- Analyze samples in a lab and developing new research theories from them
- Preserve specimens and samples of unknown species and diseases and mapping the distribution, ranges or movements of marine populations
- Prepare detailed reports for agencies, fund, commercial organizations, governmental bodies or oil companies drilling on the seabed
- Carry out environmental impact assessments evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed project or development, including socio-economic, cultural and human-health impacts
- interviewing local divers, fisherman and stakeholders about animal behavior and local marine practices
- Provide policy makers with the scientific information needed to best manage the marine environment and advocating this in the policy process through government liaison, press and media
- Develop, implement and manage projects relating to the marine environment
- Coordinate and track of assignments, scopes, schedules budgets and deliverable
- Write proposals, contract negotiations, marketing and business development
- Keep up to date with new research and technologies
- Liaise with colleagues across the field including fellow research staff, technicians, ships' crews and research assistants.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, Marine Science, or related field.
Experience Requirements
- At least 3 year(s)
Additional Requirements
- At least 3 years' experience in similar position
- Proficient in using oceanographic equipment
- High levels of physical fitness for field work
- Experience in practical areas such as scuba diving, boat handling and first aid
- Adaptability to live in basic living conditions in minimalist environments, to work in all types of weather and to live aboard research vessels
- Strong numeracy and IT skills
- Experience of working in multi-cultural environment/multi-national organization(s)
